Asphalt Green is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting individuals of all ages and backgrounds achieve health through a lifetime of sports and fitness. We serve over 50,000 New Yorkers each year through our free community programs and scholarships.
Asphalt Green runs free soccer clinics for kids ages 5 to 13 at Roberto Clemente State Park in the Bronx and Flushing Meadow Corona Park in Queens. Children learn the fundamentals, ball skills, and basic game strategy. Our goal is for participants to develop a love for the sport, adopt an active lifestyle, and learn the values of leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Our Somo Monarks 11th Annual BRONX Back to School Giveaway event in partnership with New York Honduras Soccer League, Inc will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2023. This yearly event promotes community, culture, and the BRONX.
About New York Honduras Soccer League, Inc.
Soccer Organization (501c3) in the South Bronx provides soccer tournaments and community to over 1,000+ Bronx student-athletes and adults every weekend at Ferry Point Park and surrounding Bronx parks. Xiomara Arriola, President of the soccer league, and also a board member in the Bronx has been providing soccer tournaments, training, workshops, and mentorships to soccer teams, coaches and leagues throughout the Bronx for 20+ years.
About our 11th Annual Back To School BRONX Giveaway
Each year, we distribute school supplies to players and spectators attending thday-long soccer tournament at Ferry Point Park. Our goal is to distribute at least 350 stuffed backpacks to Bronx Scholars this year with so many returning back to school in person come August/September, we want to ensure they go back with the supplies needed.
We hope to count on your support through donations/staff presence on the day of, or possibly sharing our flyer to gain more support from the Bronx community.
